The Drop: New Era x Billion Creation ‘Fanfest’

Dropping Friday, February 3rd.

San Diego is a catalyst for culture. A melting pot for creatives, athletes, entrepreneurs, artists, and individuals, with a passion for the communities that birthed them. From the bustling streets of downtown and idyllic hideaways of Mission Hills to the colorful neighborhoods of east county, diversity is the lifeblood of our city.

But, representing the home we love can be difficult.

That's why we decided to reach out to designers from every walk of life for our upcoming drop, 'Fanfest' -- a culmination of perspectives, approaches, and experiences centered around the city's greatest unifier: baseball.

The Padres are more than a club. They're the glue that holds San Diego together. An icon, and a symbol; a testament to the strength of the communities that make this city, the greatest city in the world. Because, while our beliefs, our loves, our passions, and our pastimes may be different, we can all agree on one thing.

San Deigo eats, sleeps, and breathes baseball -- the sport that creates bonds, brotherhoods, rivalries, and revelries.

This is our love letter to Padres baseball.

The 'Fanfest' capsule is comprised of four favorites from our local collaborators.

First, we have the 'Tristar' and 'BC Connect, which build on the popularity of the City Connect, introduced for the first time by the Padres. For these unique recreations, we blended the logos of Padres past with the colors of the present to give you our version of the City Connect hat. Both front logos feature the club's 1980s word logo in strawberry pink and warm sunshine gold. Undervisors are light pink. But, where they differ (aside from their 59Fifty and 9Fifty styles) are their side patches.

Our Padres BC Connect 59Fifty fitted features a 1992 All-Star Game patch. Back logo is a MLB Cooperstown Batterman logo.

Our Tristar 9Fifty snapback, on the other hand, features a unique 1989 All-Star game side patch. The Padres had three players who played at this game: Tony Gwynn, Bento Santiago, and Mark Davis. This side patch is a callout to them and a shoutout to the future, as the Padres seek to enter another era of MLB dominance.

Our third hat is the Del Mar 59Fifty fitted, a jovial take on the extremely rare Seattle Mariners "World's Fair" concept. This hat touches instead on the Del Mar fairgrounds (and track) in several ways: the crown and brim imitate the barns and buildings found on the property, while navy and seashore blue tones touch on Del Mar's eclectic visual packages. The brown roundel is the ever-popular horse racetrack. Found in the side patch are splashes of bright, vibrant colors to invoke memories of the foliage found on many Opening Day hats at the races. 1998 World Series side patch. Panama Tan undervisor.

And last, but not least, we have the Ube Pandesal 59Fifty fitted. This cap emphasizes the culturally-rich Filipino-American community that helps to make SD so special. This design is not only a homage to a Filipino favorite, but also to the communities our designers have grown up within. The crown features a tan/off-white color to represent the outside of the pandesal. The color of the bill is a darker purple to represent the inner color of the pandesal, while still paying homage to the color of ube yam. The color of the eyelets, New Era flag, and undervisor arrive in light lavender. Side patch is the 25th-anniversary variant. Back logo is MLB Cooperstown Batterman.
