We designed this collection of New Era hats to commemorate the greatness of Tony Gwynn. One of the greatest players in the history of Major League Baseball. This collection is inspired by the uniforms worn during the San Diego Padres’1998 season, one of the two times Tony Gwynn led the Padres to the World Series. The Tony Gwynn Collection plays on the orange, white and blue color way worn during that season. Over time, this color way has become unique to San Diego, and we use it as a symbol of the greatness that Tony Gwynn brought to America’s Finest City.

This hat is a New Era 9FIFTY snapback. This San Diego Padres snapback hat is a two tone hat with a grey body and a dark navy visor. Instead of the traditional white “S” and orange “D” that form the SD logo, we reversed the color way. As opposed to some of the other hats that are part of the Tony Gwynn Collection, this hat is a solid grey. We tried to match the grey we used here as much as possible to the light grey uniforms worn during that period, completely tying in all the colors from the later Tony Gwynn era. Above the back strap is embroidered in big bold letters “San Diego”. This hat is 100% polyester so it is shrink resistant. It’s also 100% 1904 so you know what city you rep when you wear this.
