Authentic

As Vans’ first shoe model, the Authentic has a heavy role in the lineage of the company. Soon after the outfit’s materialization in 1966, its first skate shoe — the #44 Deck Shoe — was birthed. Soon after, this experimental footwear piece would be dubbed the “Authentic,” allowing it to be more marketable, influential, and youthful. Little did the company know, this simplistic silhouette would become one of the world’s most recognizable apparel pieces.

Over 55 years later, the Authentic remains one of the brand’s best-selling styles, thanks to its classic composure. Subtle canvas uppers, lightweight construction, and a low-profile demeanor make the shoe what it is — an iconic addition to any footwear collection — and one that’s steeped in Vans’ rich heritage.
